2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these we might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
As believers we partake of the very nature of God. When the Holy Spirit comes to live in us, the nature of God comes with it. Our sharing in his nature is another description of the new birth by which we receive the life of God.
We share God’s nature in order to conform to God and His holiness.
